Can I Have Curly Hair?

Sometimes I wash my hair.  Then I brush it.  Then I let it air dry a little.  This is what happens:

Then I brush it again, and this is what happens:

Sometimes I tell myself, "No worries.  Just don't brush it."  That doesn't work.  When it dries, it's just a scraggly mess.  And then I brush it, and it doesn't look pretty at all.

Other times I say, "Just put in a ton of gel and hair spray."  It still doesn't work.

Now I'm not saying my hair won't keep it's curl, I'm just saying I haven't mastered it yet.  The only reason I am currently complaining is because I look at picture one and I can't help thinking, "My hair wants to be curly!"

Don't Get Offended

Sometimes I read things that I do not agree with.  Part of me wants to join in on discussions, but part of me is afraid of saying something out of anger rather than out of love (especially when most of what is already being said is out of anger).  I wanted to write this post because I wanted to get my feelings out.  I can’t change anyone else’s opinion, but I am free to state my mine.

This is in reference to this video.  There are 34 seconds in that video, but I’m pretty sure people only hear the last 10 seconds and completely disregard the first 24.  Of course, that is irrelevant.  Also, I’d like to note that I don’t feel any hesitation in referencing this video because it does not offend me.

My question to people who are offended by it: Do you believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is run by God or run by man?

Think about that for more than a minute, please.  Really think about that.

If you think it is run by man, well, that is the crux of the disagreement we have.  You are free to believe as you wish, but I don’t see why you should be offended by a religion you don’t believe in.  How we run our church will not affect you.

I would like to point you to an article also by M. Russell Ballard in the September 2014 Ensign entitled “Men and Women and Priesthood Power.”  I thought it was well written.  I want to quote some of what he says at the end.

“We need more of the distinctive, influential voices and faith of women.”

He goes on, but I wanted to point out that he is specifically calling for more female voices.

Later he says, “Do not spend time trying to overhaul or adjust God’s plan. We do not have time for that. It is a pointless exercise to try to determine how to organize the Lord’s Church differently. The Lord is at the head of this Church, and we all follow His direction. Both men and women need increased faith and testimony of the life and the Atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ and increased knowledge of His teachings and doctrine. We need clear minds so that the Holy Ghost can teach us what to do and what to say. We need to think straight in this world of confusion and disregard for the things of God.”

There is so much truth in this article.  I don’t think I could say what I believe any better than he does.  If you don’t understand the article, I would urge you to keep studying it out and pondering it.  He is very clear and his words are filled with truth.  I’m not saying that as someone who is blindly following someone else.  I’m saying it as someone who already knows what I believe, and I just happened to find an article that says exactly that. The entire article is worth reading.
